Golf fitness

Golf fitness is ideal for the golfer looking to reduce pain during their round, while also improving power and consistency of their swing. Many golfers struggle with poor flexibility and stability. This can lead to pain, lack of distance off the tee and an inconsistent swing.

Our physical therapists are Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) certified and use the comprehensive TPI golf assessment to diagnose physical limitations that may be affecting your golf swing. Addressing these limitations will improve your performance on the course and reduce risk for injury.

What is TPI?

TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) is the world's leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. For over twenty years, TPI has gathered the world’s largest technical database of the game’s top Tour professionals as well as every-day golfers. TPI determines how physical limitations in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury. This relationship is what TPI calls The Body-Swing Connection and is the foundation of all professional Certification courses offered by TPI.

25 of the top 30 players in the world work with a TPI certified expert!

TPI Philosophy:

“We don’t believe there is one way to swing a club; we believe there are an infinite number of ways to swing a club. But we do believe that there is one efficient way for everyone to swing a club and it is based on what they can physically do.”

We, at Drive PT, are strong believers in this philosophy. Our goal is not to change your golf swing, but to make your golf swing as efficient as possible.

The TPI golf assessment we provide is a 16-point evaluation including mobility, strength and motor control. These findings will help determine potential faults in your golf swing.

Golf Performance Physical THerapy

Our physical therapists are certified in the medical professional curriculum of TPI. This gives us additional knowledge on how pain and specific injuries can be caused by the golf swing. We are experts in diagnosing pain and what sequence(s) of your swing it can be caused by.

With golf specific physical therapy, you can expect a comprehensive evaluation with a swing analysis and treatments consisting of:

  • Manual therapy to reduce pain and restore function

  • Strength training to improve stability and build power back in your swing,

  • Mobility exercises to help you swing freely again with reduce risk of re-injury.

Most common golf injuries per TPI:

  • Low back pain

  • Shoulder pain

  • Knee pain

  • Hip pain

  • Wrist pain

Golf Fitness Training

Golf fitness is the key for golfers looking to unlock their full potential. A high quality golf swing requires rotational power, upper body and lower body mobility, and stability. Our golf programs include exercises to address all of these areas so that you can maximize your game.

After the TPI assessment, all of our training plans are individualized and based upon your goals and ability. If you are working on swing lessons with a golf professional, we can collaborate with them on our findings to form a team approach. We also use the MyTPI app to give you home exercises based upon our assessment.

Whether you're training in the gym with us or following our online programs, clients will start to see more distance off the tee, a more consistent swing, as well as less pain on and off the course!
